Community Trek has been built over one vision: to use the potential of sustainable tourism activities for the sustainable development of Nepal. Therefore our mission is simple: to ensure to our customers the best touristic experience while basing our activities on the respect of the local culture, the respect of the environment and to make sure that all our economic resources are used in the best way for both the organization and the environment in which it is growing.
Our Vision: Promoting & conducting tourism activities for sustainable development.
Our Mission: Community Treks has three pillar missions to achieve its vision; 1) Economic sustainability 2) Socio Cultural Sustainability and 3) Environmental Sustainability is the major three pillar to achieve its vision.
Tourism directly impacts the economic sector like other organizations. Tourism increases employment opportunities. Additional jobs, ranging from low-wage entry-level to high-paying professional positions in management and technical fields, generate income and raise standards of living. Particularly in rural areas, the diversification created by tourism helps communities that are possibly dependent on only one industry. As tourism grows, additional opportunities are created for investment, development, and infrastructure spending. Tourism often induces improvements in public utilities such as water, sewer, sidewalks, lighting, parking, public restrooms, litter control, and landscaping. Such improvements benefit residents. Likewise, tourism encourages improvements in transport infrastructure resulting in upgraded roads, airports, public transportation, and non-traditional transportation (e.g., trails). So, for economic sustainable following objectives have been set:
As any economic actor, Community Trek provides dynamism to the local economy. Besides being an engine for the local economy we also provide employment and working opportunities to many marginalized individuals.
Tourism can improve the quality of life in an area by increasing the number of attractions, recreational opportunities, and services. Tourism offers resident’s opportunities to meet interesting people, make friendships, learn about the world, and expose themselves to new perspectives. Influxes of tourists bring diverse values to the community and influence behaviours and family life. Individuals and the collective community might try to adopt tourist behaviours. Interactions between residents and tourists can impact creative expression by providing new opportunities. Traditional ceremonies may be renewed and revived by tourist interest. Experiencing different cultural practices enriches experiences, broadens horizons, and increases insight and appreciation for different approaches to living. Often, dwindling interest in host cultures is revived by reawakening cultural heritage as part of tourism development, which increases demand for historical and cultural exhibits. This interest by tourists in local culture and history provides opportunities to support preservation of historical artefacts and architecture. At the same time, tourism often promotes higher levels of psychological satisfaction from opportunities created by tourism development and through interactions with travellers. So, for the sustainability of the socio cultural other fundamental objectives have been set:
One of the key assets of Community Trek. This is a point where we target most of our efforts, trying to provide as much social improvements in both rural and urban areas such as Baseri, Seilang & Kathmandu while preserving the local cultures and identity.
Environment is one of the most important sectors for sustainable development of tourism because we cannot create it by ourselves. In this present IT’s & industrial era most of the developed countries are not environment friendly. Countries like Nepal which are in the process of development should make environment friendly development. Tourism is generally considered as a “clean” industry. Areas with high-value natural resources like lakes, waterfalls, mountains, unique flora and fauna, and great scenic beauty attract tourists and new residents (in-migrants) who seek emotional and spiritual connections with nature.
The Himalayas are a very reactive environment which has already suffered a lot from global warming and tourism activities, therefore it is essential for the company to restrain as much as possible its impacts on it. In near future we have planned to set an action plan aiming to introduce incomes to different organizations working in the protection of the Himalayan environment through different particular offers.
