Nabin Moktan Cultural Guide Nepal

Nabin Moktan

Mountain Guide

Cultural Tour Guide KathmanduNabin Moktan born in a Tamang family, one of the ethnic groups of Nepal, he became aware of the different cultural and religious rites and traits of his place and community and was quite shocked to observe some of the paradoxical religious activities of his own community. When he finished high school, he started to work in a Thangka painting studio as a sales person. At this point, he started to learn more and more about different religious aspects such as iconography. After a few years, he became an expert concerning Buddhist & Hindu iconography and some different traits of these cultures.

Curiosity and interest on the Buddhist culture raised in him and after many years working in this Thangka store, he could gather enough resources to start to study Buddhism, Buddhist Philosophy, more extensive and deep way. Therefore he joined the University in 2004 to study Buddhism and did 3 years bachelor degree in Buddhist Philosophy and history of Buddhist traditions.

He is now well versed in Buddhist philosophy and Buddhist cultural history and has good knowledge concerning eastern, western culture, religion and the ancient civilization developed in the Indian subcontinent.

Nabin Moktan knows that one will have the better understanding of Nepalese people, culture, and history only by having basic knowledge concerning the animist/shamanist belief systems and Hinduism and Buddhism as the backgrounds where the different cultures and beliefs have their roots.

His passion is to share his knowledge and we are honored to have such an outstanding cultural and spiritual guide in our ranks.
